Following their electrifying debut single, My Body, Fuzz Lightyear returns with their latest offering, Visual Effect—a track that embodies the band’s mission to be the loudest, fastest, and most visceral force in the Leeds underground scene.
“Visual Effect was the hard and fast result of us trying to write a straight-ahead slammer, chucking in pummelling drums, a bassline influenced by Leeds’s legacy of DIY bands, hyper-nihilist vocals, and two raw guitars, all pushed probably faster than they ought to be,” says frontman Ben Parry. “Recorded almost entirely live on a bleak, snowy day, we kept going, ramping up the tempo, the intensity, and how raw we could get ourselves sounding.”
Born out of the chaos of their live shows, Fuzz Lightyear’s sound is an unrelenting mix of shoegaze, industrial noise-rock, and punk, driven by a raw energy that cannot be ignored. With Visual Effect, they push themselves further into the fast-paced, brutal territory they’ve become known for, blending their DIY spirit with relentless experimentation. It’s a track that distills everything the band stands for—raw, fast, and furious rock & roll that demands to be heard.
Since their inception, Fuzz Lightyear has been creating waves in the UK, quickly earning a reputation for their chaotic yet captivating blend of noise, punk, and unhinged live performances. With tours alongside the likes of English Teacher, The Wytches, and Lambrini Girls, the four-piece has built a dedicated following, and with new material on the horizon, they show no sign of slowing down.
As they prepare for another round of intense shows and releases, Fuzz Lightyear remains committed to their mission of sustained, uncompromising experimentation. With Visual Effect, the band further cements their place as one of the UK’s most exciting and unpredictable acts.
