MALADY
SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘FAMOUS LAST WORDS’ ON NICE SWAN RECORDS
Malady was birthed as a result of Percy Junior Cobbinah (vocals/guitar) and Clark (guitar/synth) frequently turning up at the same gigs as one another; Cobbinah and Ertan Cimen (drums) were first acquainted uni house parties; while Clark met bassist Khaleem Mitchell-Patterson at college. Fusing musical elements from dub, post-rave, early dubstep and IDM with formative indie guitar music, the band draws inspiration from day-to-day living, focussing on conversations and social observations.
The band’s debut single ‘London I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down’ was released last year as part of the Nice Swan Introduces series which also featured breakout releases from the likes of Jelly Cleaver, Courting, Hallan, and Sprints. ‘London I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down’ was lauded by the likes of Clash, DIY, Dork, Hero, NME, So Young, Stereogum, Yuck and more. Malady rounded off 2020 with tips on the NME 100 and Dork HYPE List, and were crowned Ones To Watch in 2021 by Fred Perry, The Daily Star, and Gigwise. Malady made impressive strides at U.K. radio also with repeat plays from Radio 1’s Jack Saunders and Huw Stephens.
