Leeds newcomers Fuzz Lightyear sign to Nice Swan Records (English Teacher, Sprints, Chalk) and share raucous new single ‘My Body’, out today (September 18th).
Born from the raw, deafening sounds of basement jams and scrappy house shows, the Yorkshire quartet are consistently trying to be the loudest and fastest band around them. Channelling the DIY ethos that birthed them, their focus remains on sustained experimentation, community, and uninhibited rock and roll.
Through relentless live shows, the band have crafted a chaotic and impressive blend of shoegaze, industrial noise-rock, and fast-paced punk, somewhere between the sounds of Sonic Youth and Show Me The Body amongst others. Having been invited to tour and perform with acts including English Teacher, The Wytches, Lambrini Girls, the four-piece have already gained a cult following throughout the UK and with new material and shows galore in the coming months, they’re certainly ready to make their mark.
Speaking ahead of their first release, frontman Ben Parry explained: “‘My Body’ asks to what extent is your mental self yours, and how much of yourself is everyone else. I wanted to look at the line between myself and the world around me – how much my environment affects my thoughts, and vice versa”.
Fuzz Lightyear’s ‘My Body’ is out now via Nice Swan Records and available on all digital platforms.
Fuzz Lightyear is Ben Parry (vocals, guitar), Josh Taylor (drums), Varun Govil (bass), Alex Calder (synth, guitar)
