East London risers Human Interest share third EP reveal ‘Nuclear War’, out today (August 8th) via cult indie label Nice Swan Records
Taken from their forthcoming ‘Smile While You’re Losing (An Audio Guide To Wellness)’ EP, arriving September 6th, ‘Nuclear War’ follows lead single ‘Shapeshifting’ and follow-up ‘Better Press Repeat’, with the alt-rockers’ silky harmonies and thrilling anthemic sensibilities piquing the interest of many throughout the emerging indie landscape in recent months.
Hailed by The Sunday Times as “an intriguing musical concoction that doffs its cap to grunge, The Kinks, Iggy Pop and T.Rex”, and following extensive press support from the likes of DIY, Dork, Consequence of Sound, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, So Young, The New Cue, CMU, Rough Trade, The Forty-Five, Human Interest have fast become mainstays on the BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq), Radio X (playlisted) and Sirius FM airwaves. With their biggest ever headliner lined up at The Lexington, London this September (13th) to coincide with their EP release, the quartet are primed to capitalise on their acclaimed summer festival run with a slew of tastemaker festival appearances later this year.
Detailing their newest offering, co-lead vocalist Cat Harrison stated: “‘Nuclear War’ is inspired by the notion of nuclear anxiety, and the contemplation of death and afterlife which inherently accompanies that. Within that process is the sad reminder of the cyclical and destructive nature of man, and how right Plato was when he said ‘only the dead have seen the end of war’. It also touches on how nuclear anxiety can be a metaphor for the mundane anxieties we experience in everyday life.”
Final copies available over at Rough Trade of limited edition colour splatter.
Human Interest’s ‘Nuclear War’ is out now via Nice Swan Records and available on all digital platforms.
